IIT Bombay National Debate

 
Fest begins: September 25, 2009 / Fest ends: September 27, 2009

 

IIT Bombay Debating Society is pleased to announce the inaugural IIT Bombay National Debate. The debate is being organized as a part of Mood Indigo IIT-B Cultural festival and Asia's largest college festival, in association with the Institute Cultural Council.

 

The debates will be held in the '2-on-2' Parliamentary style formats with a round of cross-questioning. There will be 5 preliminary rounds (1 random matchup + 4 power-matched rounds) followed by the knockout stages consisting of the quarterfinals, semifinals and finals.

 

In line with their aim of organising a high quality debating tournament that would attract the best teams from India and abroad, they are pleased to announce prizes worth Rs.100,000, including significant incentives for adjudicators.

They invite you to register a maximum of 2 teams from your institution, each consisting of 2 speakers. In order to ensure high quality adjudication, they insist that every team be accompanied by a minimum of one adjudicator. They will provide accommodation for all outstation teams on the campus itself.

 

They will be sending out a detailed rulebook and formal invitation shortly. However as a preliminary, please send them an email as soon as possible to above mentioned mail address, confirming the receipt of this invite and informing us of the number of teams and adjudicators you are likely to register.
